Nicole Benefield
Nicole's journey prior to her fashion debut started out as wanting to build upon her portfolio of sketches, for she has been a designer for many years and it was time to level up. In building her portfolio, she decided to take things to the next level by adding physical elements, actual pieces brought to life from just being an illustration on her pages.
In January 2020, the process of creating her capsule collection started off with great momentum. Fabrics were bought, designs were being executed, and then out of nowhere, COVID hits. This became a bitter-sweet experience for Nicole. Sure things seemed bleak, but her perseverance would pay off. "Creativity comes out of restriction." In the summer of 2020, Nicole was accepted onto a sustainable manufacturing platform that gives black designers a place/chance to share/produce their work. In just under four months of working on the sustainable platform, her collection was launched from branding to production, ready for business.
Nicole's FW21 capsule collection is sustainable, which means it's fashion with a cause. The pieces are 97% biodegradable and are made-to-order. This means customers can place their requests, and the order goes into production. Not to worry, the process doesn't take that long. Rest assured once you place an order, you'll be rocking her pieces within two weeks.
Much thanks to Nicole for having VOLATILE be apart of her showroom viewing as she debuts her portfolio during NYFW, under the Black In Fashion Council.
Thanks for reading, until next time.
