From the Catwalk to Your Closet; How Metallic Became a Trend Again

When models strutted onto the runway at the Autumn/Fall fashion shows months ago, no one could have predicted how very different the festive season would look this year. During this time the shimmering gold gowns shadowed up and down the catwalk looked perfect for the lavish celebrations we would have lined up for the month of December. Though now it may look like the party season will not be going off with such a Big Bang, that should not be the reason for discouragement to not embrace the sparkling trend for the festive period.

Just like other trends that are re-emerging such as puffy sleeves, and neon brights, this one is bound for polarizing. Though you may reserve your shiniest and sparklies pieces for nights out on the town, or New Years Eve it is time to embrace your inner disco girl. If metallic clothing may be intimidating for you, fear not. The easiest way to embrace all of the glitter is creating a balance with clean Buffalo and solid colored basics. Try a pair of pink metallic mules for example with everyday jeans or pair a party dress with neutral heels. Take inspiration from the fashion girls who are reclaiming the trend in 2020 by using them as a mood board you can shop some suggestions to get you started.

However you plan on spending your Christmas a molten metallic dress can be your guide to a real mood booster, the key to the new found trend is to make the style into your own. On the runway we saw a spectacular production by Celine and Emilia Wickstead, while there were a cascade of sequins at Ashish and Paco Rabanne. Particularly portioning to the color designers favored a darker antique hues or cool champagne tones, instead of a warm gold with also an incorporation of a mixture of flowing frocks and sexy cocktail dresses.

Not too keen on a dazzling dress, then try a metallic colour blocking, pairing it with a gold going out too with a midi skirt, or sequined skirt with a fine knit. Moving onto to the category of accessories, do not be afraid of combining a glittery dress with spear kilt shoes for instance. This being a festive season it is all about feeling good fashion.
